Child custody, support, and parenting disputes can be extremely emotional.
Law Office Of Kari Nelson will walk you through the process, calmly and respectfully, so you can think clearly and put the welfare of your children first. If necessary, a neutral mediator can also help negotiate a parenting plan that benefits both parents and children.
The Kansas courts have helpful child support guidelines that can be found here. Should you need help getting child support enforced, Kari Nelson will advocate on your behalf.
Parents are obligated to provide for the financial needs of their child/ren. It is the child/ren's right to be supported not a parent's right, and the Court will protect this right. Kansas Courts have a "customary support" scale from which parents can estimate the amount of child support required. A copy of the child support guidelines can be found here.
Child support is normally payable until the children reach the age of majority (in Kansas, 18 years old or the next June 30 if the child's 18th birthday occurs while the child is attending high school). The obligation to pay child support may, by agreement between the parties, be continued beyond the age of majority to cover such matters as educational expenses in college and the like, but such an obligation cannot be imposed by the Court without the agreement of the parties.
Paying child custody is not a "ticket" to seeing a child. Child support will be enforced by the court if payments are not made to the residential parent.
With the guidance of Kari Nelson, child custody cases can be dealt with calmly, efficiently, and with your child's best interests in mind. Call (785) 979-4985 today!
